What's a HIT

I feel HIT is the best way you can discribe doing these challenges.  You hit it and hit it hard.  100 stairs. You hit it running because you get extra energy on the striiv if you are doing a race.  Next you are back on the treadmill for 1000 steps.  You really have to kick it up or the Striiv ask you if you give up??  Then it is back to the stairs.   We need to stop saying if only I had and start saying I am using what I have to it's fullest. I am going to use my alarm clock.  :(

Sat Oct. 20

I am missing going to the gym with my friend Cindy.  She has some things going on in her life so why am I letting this stop me from going?  It is just more fun to work out with a friend so I am working on those challenges.
 I have to tell you these challenges alone don't look so bad but when you start doing them back to back they just kick your but. 

I am excited because my new DVD should be at work soon.  The striiv is great for cardo but I am thinking Dustins core DVD should tone my mid.

Let me know if there is something you would like me to chat about.  I follow all kinds of different people in the fitness industry including Jillian.  I follow those guys and gals that think 7% guys and 15% gals body fat is a bad thing.
What do I learn from these guys?  I learn what it takes to maintain the % they are at.  Am I willing to or do I have the time to be a 15% or less woman? No.  It would be cool to reach but with my desk job and a hate of the gym there is no way.  Can I be happy with my higher %? Yes. This is my goal, It is to find the best way to maintain a happy %.
I would like to get rid of this muffin top and fit into a couple of things my daughter has designed.  She is in NY right now doing an inturnship.  It would be a bummer not to be .... no strick that   and I want to say .. wouldn't it be cool to beable to wear something off the designer rack.  You all know I will have to take a trip back to NY in the next 5 years.  The last time I got 35,000 steps in for 1 day.
Well I am off to get my challenges done. and then clean a bathroom.  I will save grouting that bathroom for Sunday.

Fit moms core DVD Review

I also ordered the fit mama's core DVD.from FitMomsForLife.com.  It is on it's way from Madison, WI.  I am having it sent to work so hope to see it and beable to start right away.

The meal plan is for a week.  I can't post it but I can tell you how I am enjoying his slections.  I think he has cottage cheese for breakfast one day.  Are you kidding????? 
Now wait I need to be positive.  What I am doing right now isn't getting rid of these last pounds so it is time to have an open mind.  I have made so many changes that are good but it's time to look it the real problem, I am still trying to get rid of and tone up those last 10 so bring it on Dustin.
I better check Dustin's opinion on that endless cup of coffee I drink during the day.

Well if I don't blog it then it doesn't count right???

Oct 18

I can't call this day 18 because on day 10 I had a small setback that knocked me to the floor.  I stepped on the scale and there was 5  old pounds back.  I couldn't believe it.  Where did these 5 come from?  I had 1 cookie.  It wasn't fare.  Not only did I fall off the wagon, toss in the towel, give up cave, just give up, I felt I let my fellow healthy eaters down.  Then to make things worst I was so bummed out I had to follow the 96% of the people that give up and I added a few more pounds on.

I was chatting with someone about how easy it is to follow a eating/ workout plan when things are going good but the minute something doesn't go right and we have to kill the whole program.  Really think about this, you eat healthy work out, feel great, live happy and then 1 day you go to get out of bed and you stub your toe so what do you do?  Sit on the couch for days if not weeks and eat cookies and pizza? 

So it is back to the striiv.  I got all my challenges in yesterday and today.  One of the challenges I had to do was 1000 steps in 10 min.  I tell you I was running.  I put it up to 6.5 for at least 30 seconds,  Most of these steps I had to do at 5.0 or a little more.  There was no slacking.  For a short amount of time I had it at 4.0.  I guess there is a reason they call them hard challenges.  After that I had to do 100 stairs.  I got it done.  I do feel so much better.

So what keeps us motivated?  I don't know.  I think you really have to have a personal goal that you keep holding in front of you.  Everyday you look at your goal and say "I want that".  Nothing can get in your way you just keep plucking away.  It's like going up a muddy hill, sometimes you slide backwards.  You may start out on a sunny day thinking this is going to be a breeze, everything looks good in front of you till there is a rock in the path. then a hill, and then you get hot and tire, then it rains and you want to quit.  Well maybe you need to just take a break.  Do you run back to the start line???  I hope not.  So what I am doing after sliding a little down that muddy hill?  I am putting on my rain coat.

I also ordered the fit mama's core DVD.from FitMomsForLife.com.   I think it will be really fun.  I did e-mail Dustin to tell him I was going to give him a review on my blog and he said "send me a link"  So I will. 
I think this might be tough but did I ever think it would be easy?  No.

Day 9

What a day.  It was just one of those days when you have things to do and you just are looking for a reason not to work out.  So I got home and DH isn't home so I get the grocerys in the house and think about doing just a few challenges. I hated the thought of working out because I know I am just to tired and it is just such a poopy day that all I want to do is take a nap.  So I did get a couple of challenges that pooped up done and before I knew it I had the med. ones done.  Then I had a couple of challenges pop up like do 100-200 stairs and I got that done and then another and then the hard ones were done so all I had to do were the easy ones.  I toughed it out and got them all done.  I can't believe but I got all the challenges done.  I do feel better.  I had french dip for dinner.  Just 1.  It was really good.  I didn't need chips, pasta salad or some other high fat or high calorie item with it.  I was good.
On to another day.

Day 8

I really had a rough day yesterday.  I did learn a couple of things.
1. if you are use to eating a big salad at lunch during the week eat it on the weekend.  DH eats at the end of the day and this isn't working for me.  I was eating the cookies I made the day before because I was really hungry.  Now these cookies had lots of nuts in them but I know better.  I tell you home remodeling projects are a stress factor.
2. I did get my challenges in and I felt good about that.

Today I also got my challenges in.  I had on challenge to get 3 more trophies done so I checked how far I was on some of them (new thing I learned) and I thought no problem I got this one.  So It was up and down the stairs a couple of times and then some time on the treadmill and 2 were done.  One more and 10 minutes and it looked like I was close to getting the 3rd one.  So it was up and down and up and down and again and again and then on the treadmill and still needed 1 more.  So I did some more stairs and then I saw the next trophy was less than 200 steps.  I tell you that 1st challenge had to be 199 steps.  I thought I was going to have to give up.  I never thought I would get it done.
So I move on.
I did make fish and some veggies for dinner.  It was pretty darn good if I have to say so myself or maybe I was starving from all those stairs.  Oh well.  How many days are there in this month? 
I better get to bed.

Oct 6

So it it the weekend.  The biggest problem I hear people talking about it that when they are home on the weekend they graze all day.  How can we make this work for us?  First get out you list of what you want to get done over the next 2 days.  If read a book is on the list don't multi-task eating snacks at the same time.  Really think about the structure of your day during the week, you get to work and work for some hours and then eat lunch and do some more work.  So what do I want to get done this weekend?  I will make my list and make sure I put get challenges done on it.
I does feel good to just sit and computer but then on Monday when I look back will I say I wasted my time?  So my list includes things like get daughters stuff cleaned up.  It is a long story but she is in NY and some of her stuff it here. Finish bathroom floor (tile project) Clean the house, Put wash away.
I tell you I feel really good when I get to cross these things off the list.  I do have to put look at a new house on the list.  I have to do a drive by today.  Remember you list can include anything you need to just do but you keep putting off.  One of the things I have on my list is to go back to UW Stout to look up some old friends.
I am seeing where watching TV doesn't get things done.

So today. I got cookies made with my mom. She needed them made for a thank you gift.  Done.  Plants in the house. Done. wash done and put away. I had 3 small cookies equal to 2 store bought size and I was still at a good calorie count.  I had a grill cheese sandwich for lunch.  I watched the amount of butter I put on the bread and added pickles and onion no ketchup.  I had a great salad for dinner.
I am full and ready to pull out the book I want to read.  Tomorrow is another day and it is back to 0 completed challenges.  I will see what my but looks like at the end of the month.

Oct 5

Ok as I am sitting here thinking of how I have to go home and get all my challenges in for today I laughing because how many times have we said - well I will just double up tomorrow? With the striiv you can't. You can't turn back time, you can't work extra hard you just can't.


When I get my challenges done for today it doesn't give me the option to do more and make up for my sloth behavior yesterday. I just laugh. It does make me want to get them done.   So I am off.  Funny how it has only been 4 full days but I feel like I can complete the whole month.  Trust me this is really hard.. 

It took me 80 minutes but I got them all done.  I was dripping wet.  You know what I forgot to do?  log my food.

Day 4 Oct 4th

I was up at the crack of dawn to get my challenges done.  I am really liking my striiv.  I think the thing I like the most is that it doesn't have a monthly fee with it.  I track my food on sparkpeople and I am good to go.  I have been feeling really good being back on track.  I am learning some new ways of getting extra energy to build things on my striiv game.
So far I am doing good at getting all the challenges in.  I think there should have a challenge for crunches or core work.
My daughter's hulahoop is here, maybe I should hoop in the morning.  I will tell you that hooping is a workout.  I am really trying to push myself so I don't slack off.  I have to keep telling myself that a challenge is a challenge and if it were easy then it would be a task.  Sitting and watching TV is a task. Hooping during the adds is a challenge.
Well it is late and I have to get up in the morning.  To make it the whole month is going to be a really big thing for me because quiting at week 3 is normal.

Oct 3rd

What a rough day.  I got up early and had a meeting so i didn't workout before I was out of the house, please note I didn't say I couldn't work out I said I chose not to workout.
Now what do you think I did about this?
I came home and got them done.  It took me about 45 min. but I got it done.  I was running on the treadmill, going up and down the stairs, back on the treadmill.  I tell you it does give you a really good workout.
I am enjoying eating salads again.

Oct 2

I love my striiv..  So I am on the treadmill doing one challenge and another on says get a bonus by reaching 200 stairs or do 15 stairs in 10 min.  Then it was back to the treadmill.  Well lets just I have the Med and hard ones done.  YYYAAAA.
Lets have a great day 2.
Now let's repeat. "Health is important to me and I want to be healthy to enjoy life."
It is off to work.  I will have to get these last few challenges in tonight.
I am still looking for a community for the striiv.

I was looking on line and I did find some facebook type things related to the striiv.  I need to check these out tonight.  I will also have to check out if there are any yahoo groups.  I did look for a meet-up group.  If you know of any let me know and we can blog.  I think the key to this whole  get and stay healthy is to keep it fun.

So I got all my challenges completed today.  I am feeling good.

Oct 1 day 1

Day 1 is always a good day.  So I was laying in bed thinking about how I could go back to sleep when I thought "hey, nothing will help me reach my goal by staying in bed."  If you want to train for a 5K you have to run it a few times before race day.  So I got up.  I got a few challenges done and by the end of the day I had all my striiv challenges done.  I did get 11,000 steps in today.  I did have to look to see if there are any communities for the striiv on the net.  Nothing really fun that I could see.  Oh well maybe I will check out what my sparkpeople striiv friends are up to.
I do have to quick log my food for today.
I did have left over fruit from yesterday so I had that with some peanutbutter for both breakfast and lunch.  I then made this rice and bean package dish and added some pork to it.  I put it on salad.  I thought it was really good.
I am guessing is that I am at about 1400 calories.  It is more important that I logged everything over how many calories.  It is best to just get in the habit of entering foods.  Next month we can look at all the foods and make adjustment then.  The month of October is to learn how many calories are in the foods we eat.  I want you to look at something and say I ate about 1 cup of rice and beans and put 3oz of pork in it not I have to figure out how I can log these food items so I stay in the calorie range.  It is better to go over than to lie.  I do need to keep my blogging to a minimum . I do have a problem blogging to much and getting nothing else done.
